Nice is widely regarded as one of the best gay-friendly cities in France, second only to Paris. From beaches, to museums, bars and clubs, the gay scene is lively and varied in Nice and last year the first LGBT centre of the Alpes-Maritimes was opened here! The new epicentre for the gay community in Nice is area around rue Bonaparte and Place du Pin, just behind place Garibaldi. With its many bars and restaurants, it has even been nicknamed ‘le petit Marais niçois’ after the famous ‘Marais’ gay area of Paris and is a great place to go out in the evening (even if you’re not gay!!) – some superb bars and restaurants along with a great ambiance. This is a particularly up-and-coming area and is more and more popular with locals and visitors alike. Besides the Pink Parade, a LGBT parade which takes place on the Promenade des Anglais every year, there are the infamous Rainbow Power evenings, gay film festivals and other cultural events aimed at the LGBT community here in Nice!

Below we have listed the best gay-friendly addresses in Nice. Many of them are officially recognized for the quality of their services and feature the multicoloured ‘Nice natural iridescence’ logo, and most of these establishments are members of the AGLAE group: Association Gay and Lesbienne Azuréenne d’Expression.


La Civette du cours, 1 cours Saleya, is a great place to see and be seen in Nice! The huge terrace is ideal for late-afternoon drinks and is packed with tourists regularly. Gay friendly and well known throughout the gay community but we only found this out recently ! – Very straight friendly and great location for afternoon suntanning.

Le Côté Marais, 4 rue Pontin, is a gay restaurant which does great food! With its charm, cosy decoration and varied clientele you will feel at home in this bistrot. The food is a lovely mix of traditional dishes and French cuisine, delicious and original! We recommend the lentil and foie gras soup!

Le Gossip, 7 rue Bonaparte à l’angle de la rue Boyer, is great for its home-made burgers and friendly atmosphere! Great place for a boogie too.

Le Pinxcho, 7 rue Bonaparte, is a great restaurant right in the heart of the gay area of Nice. Both the design of the place and the food are refreshingly original!

Le Sapore, place du Pin, is a restaurant which offers more modern food!

Le Thyjeff’s, 7 rue Emmanuel-Philibert, is a bar-restaurant where much of the gay community like to meet up! You are guaranteed a great atmosphere and a warm welcome!



There are two gay nightclubs in Nice: High and the Blue Boy. Once a month, High holds its much anticipated Rainbow Power evenings which have become something of a monumental occasion for the gay community in Nice!

The gay bars in Nice often organise themed evenings with entertainment for your enjoyment.

Jazz Rock Café is a lesbian bar which once a month holds the famous ‘MADmoiZelles’ evening for women only.

Le Six, 6 rue Raoul Bosio, is another of Nice’s popular gay bars. Decorated in the ‘Belle Epoque’ style, Le Six spreads over two levels.

Le Glam, 6 rue Eugene Emmanuel, is a very popular bar where you can also dance. It has become the new ‘place to be’ for many of the gay community in Nice! They also host lots of themed evenings.

Le Fard, 25 Promenade des Anglais, is opposite the sea and is another of Nice’s animated gay bars.

Le Butch Bar is a new establishment for the gay community in Nice Old Town!



HI beach is one of Nice’s most popular gay beaches. Hi beach proposes interior and exterior spots with access to the bar, restaurant and the relaxation zone with large LCD TV screen, books magazine and newspapers. There is WiFi throughout. Besides the beach, the cultural and musical program makes the Hi beach one of the best places for the gay community to celebrate in the evenings!

Coco Beach is close to Nice’s port, in the direction boulevard Franck Pilatte. The gay area of this beach starts on the left.
