Top Ten Reasons to Move to Nice

People flock to France to buy property as it’s a wonderful place to live but if you were having any doubts about finding property for sale in Nice in particular, here are Attika’s top ten reasons for relocating to the glorious French Riviera:

Top 10 Nice Bay

1. The sunshine.

We really don’t think we need to elaborate much here: Nice is located in the South of France on the Riviera so any property purchased here is bathed in sunshine all year round. Plus you’ll get a lovely tan.

2. The sea.

There are no words to describe just how blue the sea is here (it’s called the Cote d’Azur for a reason): find an apartment with sea views in Nice or a great property in Cap d’Ail and we can promise you’ll never tire of the view.

3. The wine.

All of France can boast about its wine and Nice is located within one of the smaller, less well-known appellations meaning you are guaranteed fantastic wine from this region. A glass or two of the local vin blanc or rosé will go down very well on your new balcony or terrace! Nice’s famous wine is the divine Bellet wine, from the hills to the west of Nice. Definitely worth a try!

4. The food.

Niçoise food can only be described as delicious. Sample some socca from the old town or some Pissaladiere and be astounded by these culinary delights! You can see our blog HERE on Nicois specialities. Start with socca!

5. The events.

Although renowned for its calm, laid back nature Nice could never be called a sleepy town on the Riviera! There is always something going on, from the annual fete de la musique to the Tour de France passing through, from the Ironman to the Jazz Festival, there is something for everyone!

6. The beach.

Ok, Nice can’t offer miles of white sandy beaches but it can deliver plenty of public beaches. They may be pebbled but who wants to find sand in all their clothes for days afterwards anyway? If you still need convincing take a look at some of the sculptures people make from the pebbles.

7. The transport links.

Nice can be proud of its public transport: you can catch a bus as far as Monaco or Cannes for just €1 and the train network is very reasonably priced as well. You can board a ferry to Corsica from the port every day and the airport is well placed to be easily accessible but is neither noisy nor a blot on the landscape. For our advice, click HERE.

8. The city.

Nice has everything: from department stores to boutiques, from parks to cathedrals, from the beach to the mountains. There is always something new to be found. We have the largest Russian cathedral outside of Russia, a gorgeous old town, Roman baths up at Cimiez and our architecture is just gorgeous.

9. The old town.

With its winding streets and its shops on every corner, the Old Town is a veritable hive of activity. Apartments in the Old Town offer access to this bustling yet charming quartier of Nice that is a favourite of the Niçoise and tourists alike.

10. The culture.

Nice has a lot to give in terms of history and art with its museums and its monuments and as such has lots of stories to be told. This year is Matisse year so loads to see and do here for Matisse lovers, but don’t miss the Chagall museum or the Museum of Modern Art too. Even our tram stops have art in them from our local artist Ben!

Nice is a brilliant place to find property to settle down or as a holiday investment and we look forward to welcoming you to this little coin du monde!
