What's On this May in Nice and the French Riviera

Spring has sprung, flowers are blooming, and in the month of May, all eyes are on the French Riviera. The prestigious Cannes Film Festival and Monaco Grand Prix are watched all over the world and with Nice conveniently located between the two, we definitely have “front row seats”!

However, if chasing the glitz and glamour at 200 miles per hour isn’t your thing, there is plenty more to do and see this May on the Côte d’Azur.

“La Vie En Rose”

Throughout May, towns and villages across the Côte d’Azur hold “fêtes des roses” (rose festivals) to celebrate the flower whose scent rolls across the hills from Grasse all the way to Nice. Enjoy relaxing meanders among the beautiful displays, admiring the sights and smells of this lovely flower.

-At the stunning Rothschild Villa in St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, professional rose growers and gardeners exhibit their creations at La Fête des Roses (Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild – 2 & 3 May)

-In Grasse, the town renowned for it’s perfumeries, 50,000 roses are exhibited at the 44th International Rose Expo (8 May – 10 May)

-”Fête des roses” are also held in smaller towns, such as La Colle Sur Loup (8 May – 10 May) and Opio (17 May) in the Provencal tradition of celebrating the village flower.
